Women to Watch
As the largest female-led Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm in the country with a leadership team consisting of more than 50% women, we are committed to recognizing and challenging the lack of gender diversity in the wealth management industry. Through our Women’s Advisory Institute, we are dedicated to sharing our stories of being women in wealth and the career possibilities available to women in the RIA industry, in addition to our focus and commitment simultaneously to educating and empowering the women investors of today and the young investors of tomorrow.
The ‘Women to Watch’ Awards aim to honor women who have measurably advanced their business and industry while supporting their client base and organizations. Additionally, these recipients are acknowledged for uplifting other women in the industry. Each honoree is an industry leader who has made a name for herself in financial services and is wholeheartedly dedicated to her community.
Below are Beacon Pointe’s various year-over-year ‘Women to Watch’ recognitions:
2022 – In their seventh annual ‘Women to Watch’ industry recognition celebration, InvestmentNews has honored Beacon Pointe Advisors with the ‘Ascension Award.’ The annual ‘Ascension Award’
honors organizations with C-Suites comprising at least 30-50% women, considering the total number of women in the company’s workforce and recognizing those with a substantial number of female employees.
2020 – In their sixth annual ‘Women to Watch’ recognition program, InvestmentNews has recognized Beacon Pointe Chief Executive Officer, Shannon Eusey, as one of the 23 female financial
advisers and industry executives elevating the financial advice industry.
The ‘Women to Watch’ honorees were chosen by an InvestmentNews selection committee that went through hundreds of nominations to
identify female leaders in the industry who have not only made a name for themselves in
financial services but are also dedicated to their communities. Each honoree was highlighted to share their experiences, stories, and expertise with others in the business – particularly other women. Shannon shares her accomplishments, the challenges she faced, and what advice she has for women who want to enter the wealth management industry.

40 Under 40
The InvestmentNews ‘40 Under 40’ award recognizes up-and-comers in the Registered Investment Advisory industry. Out of over 1000 nominations of advisors and young professionals 39 or younger, the list is whittled down to 40 honorees by a panel of reporters, editors, and other representatives of InvestmentNews based on four criteria: accomplishments, contribution, leadership, and promise. We are beyond proud of our Beacon Pointe advisors and team for these astounding recognitions.
Below are our Beacon Pointe advisors that have been recognized:
2021 – A Wealth Advisor in the Beacon Pointe Philadelphia office, Kate Hickey (formally Kate Pettee), has been included in the InvestmentNews ‘40 Under 40’ recognition program. This is the eighth annual feature, which profiles a list of outstanding up-and-comers, including financial advisors and young professionals, from fintech, asset management, and socially responsible investing worlds.
Kate, along with the others making the 40 under 40 list, is highlighted in the June 7, 2021, issue of InvestmentNews and online at investmentnews.com. Kate is a passionate advisor with the energy and promise to make lasting changes in the industry. Her desire and drive to be the best advisor for her clients is evident through her success in obtaining the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation and her candidacy for both the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®) designations. In addition, Kate is also an advocate for financial literacy. She regularly hosts seminars to guide young professionals in building lasting financial habits early in their careers as well as hosting national events through Beacon Pointe’s Women’s Advisory Institute (“WAI”). On Earth Day 2021, Kate hosted the firm’s ‘WAI to Build a Bouquet’ event, which educated women investors on values-based investing, another passion of Kate’s. Whether promoting racial justice, fostering sustainable agriculture, or advocating for improved corporate policies, Kate helps her clients align their investments with their personal values. As a former D1 athlete, Kate is a true team player and leads by example by both training new ambitious advisors and “managing up” to more senior advisors of the team in a rapidly growing firm.

2019 – Beacon Pointe is pleased to announce that Brandt Kuhn, CFP®, Managing Director and Partner of the Beacon Pointe Advisors Palm Desert office has been featured in the 2019 InvestmentNews ‘40 Under 40’ ranking. The honorees on this list serve as role models for other young professionals and aim to identify young talent doing remarkable things in the financial advisory industry.
Growing up, Brandt strived to pursue a career as a professional baseball player but was drawn to finance during his collegiate years. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and a concentration in Financial Management. Since then, Brandt has returned home to the Palm Springs area where he has made his mark in the rapidly growing community.
Brandt embodies the epitome of the Beacon Pointe advisory team with his skill and dedication to both his clients and his business. Specializing in qualified retirement plans – including plan design, implementation, and management that help employers and employees reach their retirement savings goals – Brandt has built his business by staying actively engaged in his position. Brandt mentions that “during the desert busy social season of November through April, [he makes] sure [he’s] at everything.”
As a seasoned financial professional and networker, Brandt has accumulated several successful lessons to live by: don’t take your eye off the ball – stay consistent with the message you put out in the marketplace, always focus on the positive – especially in challenging times, and don’t rely on just one mentor – seek out many role models. “Always talk to successful businesspeople, even outside of the industry,” he said. “You can take a nugget of knowledge from each successful person you interact with.”
Brandt’s passions also stem past the world of Business Finance as he is also very involved with his community, serving past and present roles on the executive board of the Desert Recreation District Foundation, the Advisory Board of The First Tee of Coachella Valley, and the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Brandt fundraises for his local recreation district and recruits young individuals to nonprofit boards.

2017 – Beacon Pointe is excited to announce that Karen Reifel CFP®, a Senior Wealth Advisor in the Newport Beach office, has been included in InvestmentNews’ nationally accredited ‘40 Under 40’ list. While beginning as a purely numeric ranking when the list had its first phase from 1999-2003, it has now evolved into a ranking of power and influence and contains business executives, political figures, sportsmen, and fashion designers, among many others under the age of forty, including wealth advisors such as Karen.
Karen embodies our entire, nationally based private client advisory team of Beacon Pointe: an exuberance when taking on tasks and a hands-on, won’t-say-no commitment to clients and the firm, both of which help promote the overall Beacon Pointe company goal of putting clients first and assisting them with fulfilling their life and legacy goals. “Knowledge drives everything I do,” Karen said. “I’m always looking at ways to improve the client experience.”
She has a simple approach for dealing with clients who might think she’s too young to be giving out advice: being confident, being prepared, and being a team player, traits of which help fulfill Beacon Pointe’s mission to provide highly professional, comprehensive, and objective advice in a team-motivated environment.
