Beacon Pointe is well known for its work with nonprofit clients across Southern California and beyond. The company’s Institutional Consulting Services team provides investment guidance and oversight to endowments, foundations and other nonprofit institutions and many of Beacon Pointe’s consultants also serve on investment committees of nonprofit organizations.
Back in 2014, Beacon Pointe instituted a “Paid Day of Service” – a policy that grants all employees an additional paid day of leave for the purpose of volunteering for a 501c3 charity, foundation or endowment organization. Beacon Pointe is about service to our clients, to our team, and to the community in which we live and our day of service allows our employees with charitable desires to go a step further by encouraging all employees to get involved as well.
This year’s Paid Day of Service was split into half-days and supported two different organizations. On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, Exceptional Families put on an event at Mariners Church with the help of Beacon Pointe’s Institutional Consulting Services Group. Exceptional Families promotes meaningful connection between Mariners Church and individuals with disabilities, in addition to their families and caregivers, for the purpose of fostering intentional relationships.
The majority of our team working out of Beacon Pointe’s Newport Beach Headquarters office volunteered at the event. They assisted by helping the participants plant an herb, decorate their pot, and teaching the participants how to take care of their new plant. After the group’s green thumbs had been exhausted, they had the opportunity to bond with their newfound friends over some ‘Double Doubles’ from In-N-Out burger! It was a very rewarding day filled with good laughs and new friendships. Thank you to Felix Lin, CFA, President of Beacon Pointe’s Institutional Consulting Services, and his wonderful wife Annie for putting together such a rewarding opportunity!
Beacon Pointe had a second opportunity to give back to the community! On Thursday, June 27, 2019 the team headed down to Laguna Beach to hang out with the local kids at the Boys and Girls Club. There were several fun activities available for the kids. The team got to bond with the children, play pool, and basketball in the Teen Center, make playdough in the Science Center, and play Wally Ball in the gym! At the end of the day, the Beacon Pointe team and the children all came together to have snack time while getting to know new friends a little better, providing mentorship and guidance. Thank you to The Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach and Juna Chiang from Beacon Pointe for event coordination and allowing us the opportunity to give back to our community!
