During the holidays, the Beacon Pointe Arizona Team chose a local charity (a domestic violence shelter) to donate clothing and toys to. While dropping items off we were so moved by all that this shelter does for families in crisis, our office decided to see if we could volunteer as a team building event.
So, in February, we grabbed boxed lunches and gathered at the shelter to see how we could help.
The project was to clean a furnish a small apartment. We worked together to do more than just clean and furnish, we really took time to create an inviting home for a family in crisis who was expected to arrive that evening.
Not only did our Arizona Team have a wonderful team bonding experience, they also walked away from the community service event knowing a difference was made in the life of a family.
Several years back, Beacon Pointe initiated a Paid Day of Service” program that allows employees to volunteer their time with a favorite charity or nonprofit organization while still getting paid for a full day’s work.
