Beacon Pointe was an exhibitor at this year’s Watermark Conference for Women in Silicon Valley. Our firm was represented by Commie Stevens, JD, Partner and Managing Director of Financial Planning, Stephanie Rumold, CFP®, Managing Director and Partner and Miriam Santiago, Client Service Associate.
The Watermark Conference for Women provides one full day of connection, motivation, networking, inspiration and skill building for thousands of women each year. This event is attended by women from a myriad of professional industries, including large tech companies and startups, banks and financial firms, healthcare, legal and more. Women from all life stages attend, from women who are just about to enter the workforce to those getting ready for retirement.
There was a plethora of influential speakers this year including Brené Brown, Gloria Steinem and Serena Williams. Each talk was empowering and encouraging and inspired attendees to get out of their comfort zones and make strides in their workplace. Serena Williams was especially motivating as she spoke vulnerably enough about past failures that occurred when taking risks. She reminded attendees that those initial failures are just small hurdles before something worthwhile, as she eventually overcame them and began to succeed more times than she failed.
Beacon Pointe was one of the few exhibitors to attend the conference from the financial services industry. Because of this distinction, our female team members had the opportunity to provide women information about financial planning, monthly educational luncheons, and share our “Through the Decades” handouts which bullet points financial milestones to strive for in each decade of living life.
