Matthew is a Partner and Managing Director of the Beacon Pointe Akron, OH office, bringing extensive experience across accounting, banking, and wealth management. His diverse professional background and education contribute to a well-rounded, client-focused approach to comprehensive wealth planning. Matthew has expertise in navigating the intricacies of business succession and legacy planning for high-net worth business owners and families.
Matthew began his career as a tax accountant with BCG & Company before serving as controller and sales manager for the Walter H. Drane Company. He then transitioned into commercial banking, where he worked as a loan officer for CFBank. Matthew then joined Jentner Wealth Management in 2010. In 2025, Matthew and his team joined Beacon Pointe Advisors through the acquisition of Jentner Wealth Management.
Matthew earned his CPA designation in 2007 and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) in 2010 and holds a degree in Accountancy from the University of Akron. He is also a member of NAPFA, the country’s leading association of fee-only financial advisors and was recognized with the Greater Akron Chamber’s 30 for the Future Award in 2014.
He is deeply committed to community engagement, serving on the Board of Directors for the Shelter Care Foundation, supporting mental health services for youth. He is also a member of Westfield Bank’s Community Development Board and a graduate of the Akron Community Foundation’s Institute for Emerging Philanthropists. His past leadership includes serving as Chairman of the Board of Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. and board roles with Mercy Economic Development International Corporation, Jump on Board for Success, and Young Professionals of Akron. He is also an alumnus of TorchBearers and a former member of the Great Akron Chamber’s Small Business Council. Outside of the office, Matthew enjoys contributing to causes that strengthen his local community, coaching youth hockey, hiking, reading, and spending time with wife and four children.
