Charles G. Duncan, CFP®, AIF®, ChFC®
Partner, Managing Director
Charlie Duncan is a Partner and the Managing Director of the Carlsbad, CA office of Beacon Pointe Advisors. After graduating from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, he worked for the Principal Financial Group for 13 years assisting families and small businesses with their financial planning needs. In 1999 he decided to become independent and formed Duncan Investment Advisors (dba Duncan Financial) which he ran for 23 years before merging with Beacon Pointe. During the 35 years he has spent in the financial services industry Charlie and his firm have helped over 1,000 families and individuals meet their financial goals by achieving financial independence and smoothly transitioning into retirement. He is a specialist in the areas of investment management and retirement planning, and Charlie holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®), Accredited Investment Fiduciary and Chartered Financial Consultant designations. As the dad of a son who has autism, Charlie is actively involved with several charities, including HALO (Helping Autism Through Learning Outreach) and the University of San Diego Athletic Department. His eldest daughter lives and works in New York City while his youngest daughter just graduated from college and lives and works in Los Angeles. Charlie and his very patient wife of 30 years live with their son in Encinitas. He tries to read a book every two weeks and when he isn’t working on completing his private pilot certification Charlie can be found golfing, traveling, or spending time with his family.

Paul Duncan, CFS
Partner, Senior Wealth Advisor
Paul Duncan is a Senior Wealth Advisor within the Beacon Pointe Carlsbad office With three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Paul leverages his immense knowledge and innovative approach to help people to prepare for retirement to achieve their long-term investment objectives. Paul began his career as Branch President for a regional banking firm before joining forces with his brother, Charlie Duncan, at Duncan Financial Advisors (which merged with Beacon Pointe in 2022). Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from UC San Diego and holds the Certified Fund Specialist (CFS) designation. In addition to his role as an advisor, Paul spearheads many charitable endeavors including working with the United Way, and he actively gives both his time and money to the Ronald McDonald House, which helps provide families who need a “home away from home” while their children receive treatment at Children’s Hospital. Paul lives in San Diego with his wife, Jenna and their two sons. In his spare time he loves to surf, scuba dive, and he tries to play golf. He is also an avid Chargers fan.

Jeffrey Mantoani
Director of Operations
Jeffrey (Jeff) serves as the for the Beacon Pointe Carlsbad office and is responsible for managing the operational and financial functions of the office. With two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Jeff has held various roles as a director and vice president of customer service for a major broker/dealer before transitioning to the role of Director of Operations and Compliance at Duncan Financial Advisors (which merged with Beacon Pointe in 2022). Jeff is originally from the Bay Area, and an avid fan of Bay Area sports. He currently resides in Point Loma with his wife and son. Outside of work, Jeff enjoys the outdoors, cooking, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Jennifer Mintle
Client Service Associate
Jennifer is a member of the Beacon Pointe Client Service Department and is responsible for partnering with the firm’s investment and wealth management teams to provide an elevated service experience for clients. Her duties include account administration, processing new and existing account paperwork, money transfers, and communicating with clients to provide the highest levels of service. With over 18 years of experience in customer and client-facing roles in the luxury hotel and administrative industry, Jennifer has a passion for assisting clients, with all their needs. Outside of the office, Jennifer enjoys golfing, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Ryan Williams
Client Service Associate
Ryan is a member of the Beacon Pointe Client Service Department and is responsible for partnering with the firm’s investment and wealth management teams to provide an elevated service experience for clients. His duties include account administration, processing new and existing account paperwork, money transfers, and communicating with clients to provide the highest levels of service. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Finance and an emphasis in Banking. Ryan grew up in San Diego, CA, and is happy to reside back home in Carlsbad, CA. Outside of the office, Ryan spends most of his time completing his private pilot certification and flying around Southern California. He also enjoys golfing, camping, working out, and spending time with his friends and family.
