Daniel (Dan) Akers, Jr., is a Partner and Managing Director at Beacon Pointe Advisors and is responsible for partnering with Beacon Pointe’s investment and financial planning teams to provide customized solutions that help clients meet their financial goals. With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Dan spends his days serving high-net-worth individual and institutional clients and is known for going the extra mile, not just in helping to manage their finances but also walking with them through lifestyle concerns and transitions. Dan began his career in wealth management working as a Trust Officer of Wachovia Trust Services and has previously served as Vice President for Merrill Lynch Trust Company of North Carolina. Prior to joining Beacon Pointe, Dan served as a Wealth Advisor and Founding Principal of Altavista Wealth Management, which merged with Beacon Pointe in 2022. Dan graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and earned his MBA from Wake Forest University. Dan holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designation and is a Certified Public Accountant. He currently serves on the Professional Advisory Committee of the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina and is Chairman of the Blue Ridge Community Health Services Foundation, Inc. Outside of the office, Dan loves spending time with his wife and three sons, volunteering, practicing his semi-fluent Spanish, playing golf, and learning to fly fish.
